All of it
I love Joel Froomkin doing the voices of everyone in the book, but when he did Valek’s voice I was totally in love with how he brought him to life….
Yes, I have listen to it twice since I got it.
Joel Froomkin has done an amazing job bring this story by Shayne Leighton to life. You can feel all the emotions of each charterer as you listen to the audiobook.
The way he narrates brings chills to spine with all the raw emotion. Please give this audiobook a listen you will not be sorry at all.
Beautiful Blood by Kira Von Wolfe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Sage is a teenager trying her best to understand what is going on in her world. Things just don’t seem to be the way they should. She has strange dreams that make no scene to her, and she can’t understand why this feeling comes over her that she know this man that comes in her dreams. Sage doesn’t get along with her mother at all. They always argue it’s as if she can’t do right by her no matter how hard she tries. When she was younger Sage had gotten into trouble with a group of friends that she had. So to deal with this her mother decided to send her away to a Reform School to see if they could help her get back on the right track. When she got back her mother still didn’t trust her no matter what she did or how hard she worked at anything she did. Graduation was getting close and Sage knew she wasn’t going to college like her friends Faith and Josh, but she wanted to hang out with them as much as she could before they left.
Sage always felt so close to Faith and her mother. She enjoyed going over to her house more than being at her own house. Faith and Sage would practice magic at Faith’s house, but Sage never did this at her house her mother would never have it. Faith always new Saga could do stuff with Wicca if she would just put her mind, but without being about to practice she has never really got much down except for a few basic spells.
The day of graduation came and everyone was there and as usual Sage’s mother put on her normal show of disappointment with her. Except one of her mother’s friends from work came over to congratulate Sage on graduating, Saga’s family had dark hair and Sage had red hair so she decided to dye it, her mother’s friend made a comment about this without skipping a beat made a nasty comment. Her friend excused herself and again congratulated Sage and left.
Sage decides to go to the library since she hadn’t been there in a while. She uses to hang out there a lot because she loved to read before she had gotten sent off to reform school. She was hoping that Mr. Bryan the librarian still worked there. She had an infatuation with him for the longest time. She figured the feeling had gone, but they all came crashing back as soon as she seen him again. While at the library trouble starts in the form of the person who was also involved in her going to reform school. Tommy and his gang show up, a few thing end up getting thrown around in the library and Sage, Faith, and Josh gets in trouble while Tommy and his gang get kicked out.
This doesn’t go over well with Sage’s mother so needless to say Sage has to work at the library and is grounded to make matters worse her older brother has to pick her to babysit her.
Not wanting to get caught by finding out that she was looking through her parent’s stuff when she learns of this secret she had to find a way to search the box again.
Mister Bryne could tell something was wrong when she came to the library for work after she had found out the secret, but wasn’t sure what it was or how to broach the situation. Later that day her friend Faith showed up with some very sad news that rock her and Sage to their core.
So much more happens in the story that I don’t want to give it away; you really need to pick up a copy for yourself in either e-book or paperback.
If you love reading about Paranormal, Occult, Horror, Vampires, and Witches by sure to check out Beautiful Blood (Eternal Sovereigns Series Book 1)
Very different read from what I am use to reading. Lots of teenagers drama and learning how to decipher text in a story was really new for me. Once I got a little further past the slow being the story started to get better. I can relate to losing a friend to doing dumb stuff like Trevor did towards to end. Everyone can’t expect one person to be able to fix the problems of everyone else. If that person doesn’t want help or know how to search for professional help your group of friends can’t jump on your case if they fall of the wagon. You do what you can to help support them, but unless you are a trained professional to handle this stuff don’t take on the burden of trying to fix everyone in your group of friends as Anna learns the hard way. We all have problems nobody is perfect so don’t try to be.
My review for the revised version of
Of Light and Darkness
I had read the first copy for; Of Light and Darkness by Shayne Leighton when it was titled; Of Light and Darkness the Vampires Daughter though it was a start for the story. I felt there was something missing I just couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was. The flow was there some time there was a few parts the seemed a little slow but not to the point of wanting to stop. When I found out that Shayne was revising the series I was beyond excited to get my hands on the new version to see what changes were being done. I told some of my friends that had read the original version that it was being revised and to be on the lookout for the new copy to come out very soon. I was not disappointed at all with the wait. It seems to happen so fast that the book as here before I was even ready to start reading. All the charters that everyone fell in love with from before are in the story again with more in depth details behind each one. We learn where Valek is original from and why he doesn’t want Charlotte traveling outside of the Occult city during the day without her special whistle. And why the “special whistle” is so important through the entire story. Valek is such a great vampire, protector, and has finally realized why “Lottie” starts getting upset as she has gotten older. The others in the story Evangeline is a witch who is something else. She tries to be nice in her own way be in the end you will truly see her true colors. There are Elves that live in the Bohemian Occult City that Charlotte lives in with Valek. The Price family helped take care of her when she was younger as to keep her safe during the day while Valek slept. Then we have Edwin who works at a store that Charlotte visits when she is out during her hunting trips. Edwin is very different once you read the book you will fall in love with him like a lot of us have. Next we have a spider named Mr. Trinozka. He is half human-half spider full name is Anansi Trinozka. When Charlotte met him that was a great part of the story they are great friends throughout.
As I said Shayne really was able to go into more depth this time around with more background on each person in the story and the flow of the story was beyond anything if the vampire genera that I have read in a while. There is no sparkling of the vampires in this and it is a paranormal/paranormal romance that grabs you from start and doesn’t let go until you finish. I can’t wait to find out what happens what the rest of the series.

Shayne Leighton Of Light and Darkness
I have to say when I found out that Shayne decided to introduction to the series for Of Light and Darkness I was totally thrilled. This has given myself and other who have read book one a chance to remember what happen as well as bring in new readers. This time around with the introduction she was able to offer so much in the first three chapters for you to get to learn about Valek. Book one in the series is coming out again with new changes and I can’t wait to re-read what Shayne has in story for us on the advantage in the Occult City. Shayne Leighton is an amazing author you won’t be disappointed.
